The MPP Press Operator reports to the MPP Plant Manager and be assigned primarily to layup. The MPP Press Operator will manage WIP inventory; operate MPP Press; operate Cauldwell load hoist on 20-ton crane; check press load programs prior to assembling dry stacks and ensure appropriate press time; load, operate and assemble press loads at dry stacker work center; notify supervisor of any changes to the press needed prior to making changes; start and complete work orders in system; set up, operate and monitor glue station at MPP layup work center; perform monthly glue checks to verify application rates; maintain log books and all other required paperwork; schedule press loads; create, print and attach tags to panels; and perform light maintenance and clean up.

Essential Functions
- Previous experience working in a plywood, veneer, or engineered wood facility is preferred. Applicable experience includes working with scarfing equipment, jointers, gluing, panel handling, or a combination of similar experience.
- Qualified candidates ensure the quality of all aspects of the scarf line operations and its application to wood products.
- Forklift certification or experience is beneficial for this position.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
If needed, or while Scarf Line is not operating, Operator may be required to perform duties in other areas of the facility, including at the MPP Press, CNC areas, shipping, or managing
inventory and finished product functions. These responsibilities encompass a wide range including basic carpentry, inventory management including making product ready to ship,
and operation of overhead cranes. All functions will be performed on panels as large as 12 feet wide, by 48 feet long and up to 24 inches thick.
Physical Demands
- Standing continuously, lifting to 40-50 pounds, constantly moving, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Working five to six days per week.
- Hearing protection required to be worn by operators; eye protection and dust masks required when handling wood dust, adhesives, or machinery.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED Experience Requirements: At least 6 months to 1 year in manufacturing or wood products (entry-level with training considered for Operator 1)
