As I begin this message I am reminded how fragile our lives are. My cousin Rochelle, just 52 years of age, didn’t wake up from last night’s slumber. We never know when the good Lord calls us home.
I relish the recent Thanksgiving I spent with my family and the opportunity to all be together. Six grandchildren caused mild but joyful mayhem.
I so appreciated spending Christmas with my family, and look forward to more wonderful memories in the coming year.
This summer I attended my 50th high school reunion. Some of my classmates I hadn’t seen in a half century. It was a wonderful night. Our appearances have changed, but our personalities have not. It was like picking up where we left off; as if no time had passed.
This spring our family was surprised by the OSU Center For Family Enterprise selecting Freres Lumber Co., Inc. as the recipient of the Dean’s Leadership in Family Business Award for exhibiting excellence in business practices, a strong family focus and a commitment to their community. We are humbled by the recognition.
2024 marked my 45th year with the company since graduating from college. It’s a joy to come to work each day with so many dedicated and capable people. Our family can invest in innovation, but it’s truly our people who put it all together to make it successful.
The national economy and our company has struggled the past couple of years, but 2025 is bringing great optimism and an expectation of change for the better.
Let’s believe the future is promising and let’s keep our perspective focused on what’s most important: our health, our families and helping our community.
Best wishes in 2025 to you and yours.
