Electrical Superintendent

The Electrical Superintendent reports to the Vice-President of Operations. This position is in a broad class and performs a variety of skilled electrical, instrument, and communications work requiring a Limited or General Signing Supervisor license. This position is responsible for managing and supervising all electricians and all electrical work, including but not limited to regular maintenance, repairing and installing new facilities and infrastructure.

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership and technical support to all electricians, millwrights with LME’s and also subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Maintenance Superintendent to ensure activities are executed efficiently.
  • Procurement – Coordinate to ensure all materials needed to perform specific tasks are procured and available when needed.
  • Coordinate and assist in determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary facilities and controls.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems (e.g. lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.
  • Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety as well as employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Responsible for the safe conduct of Freres’ personnel to ensure a zero accident project. Ensure all site personnel meet minimum safety requirements (e.g. training, orientations, tools and equipment).
  • Ability to assist in developing and writing programs for numerically controlled machines using engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings to define configuration of parts and determine type and sequence of machine operations.
  • Develops programs for machining parts, tools or sheet metal on numerically controlled machine tools.
  • Makes proper cutter selections for each part, taking into consideration such factors as speeds, types of cutters, feeds, and control system limitations.
  • Selects program routines for the most efficient computer calculation of dimensional and machining requirements for each part.
  • Tests and modifies existing parts programs for engineering changes or program improvements.
  • Have knowledge of tools, materials, processes and techniques of installing, programming, and maintaining precision instruments and process control equipment and electronics.
  • Have skill in repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining, modifying, calibrating and installing precision instruments.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example.
  • Collaborates with departments, production managers, electrical and maintenance personnel to translate work requirements into clear achievable plans.
  • Inform and request feedback from Electrical Supervisor · Deploy fast action response teams with clear guidance and direction during upset machine conditions.

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other branches with reasonable and related tasks.

Physical Demands

  • Consistently works near on or around mechanical parts.

Qualifications

  • Must possesses a current Limited or General Signing Supervisor License
  • 10+ years’ experience in a leadership role overseeing projects
  • Expertise in electrical project work.
  • Mill Experience preferred.
  • 10 years+ of electrical work in industry
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a lead position with company.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills, computer, and math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
  • Positive and Excellent Interpersonal and Customer Service skills
  • Ability to make important decisions under pressure.
  • Time management skills
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage efficiently and effectively.
  • Computer literacy in commonly used business software products such as spreadsheets, word processing and database management
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, plant management supervised employees vendors and customers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience using a scanner/tagging system for inventory control
