This is one position that includes work as a sales engineer and a cost estimator. This position reports to the Vice President of Sales. This position is expected to generate new business and ensure growth of existing accounts. Assesses potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs. Researches and presents reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing company products or services. Provides technical training to clients and communicates customer feedback for future product developments. Uses technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales.

Essential Functions

Sales Engineer
- Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Establishes new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.
- Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
- Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
Estimator
- Initiates, establishes, develops and maintains positive business and client relationships
- Prepares cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents, consulting with engineers, mechanical operator, and other professional and technical personnel.
- Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
- Positive, effective communication with prospective clients via all mediums, including on-site visits to determine and evaluate client needs’, potential risks, relative costs, and conclude whether Freres can complete the project with the given time frame and budget
- Assists in overseeing, analyzing and reviewing requirement documents, blueprints, specifications and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project · Assists in the responsibility for Projects from End to End (sales inception to customer payment and shipment of goods)
- Uses bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis and assists in the coordination of project documentation and logistics from design through fabrication and project installation · Assists in preparing and presenting estimates to management and other stakeholders, which include labor costs/payroll costs, etc.
- Compiles, tracks, records actual costs
- Assists in determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a product
- Assists in and frequently manages all bids · Represent the company in a positive and professional manner
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

The job requires working in varied elements, this includes outdoors, wet floors, changing temperatures (both hot and cold), and sometimes slippery conditions.
Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, engineering, construction management, statistics or another related field preferred; OR 5 years of Sales Engineering or Cost Estimating Work Experience
- CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) or AEP (Associate Estimating Professional) earned by ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators) preferred but not required
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365
- Proficiency in mathematics, statistics and data analysis
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and possess a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written · Strong and positive interpersonal skills
- Report writing and strategic planning skills
- Expertise with analytical tools, such as spreadsheets, databases, and other software
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze technical documents
- Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
- Familiar with design software such as CAD, CADWORKS, REVIT and/or RHINO
- Computer literacy in commonly used business software products such as spreadsheets, word processing and database management required
- Computer Literacy in typical CRM programs such as ZOHO or Sales Force as well as the ability and interest to work with accounting programs beneficial but not required
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record
