1847 Food Park, a new development in downtown Milwaukie, was built almost entirely from exposed Mass Ply. This mass timber construction project brings together local food carts, gathering spaces, and a wood-forward design in the heart of the city’s growing downtown area.
While the project is smaller than many mass timber buildings, it demonstrates how engineered wood can create warm, durable spaces designed for everyday community use.
Our Mass Ply was used throughout the project, including the floors and ceilings of the three-story building, the stair system, and the roof structure of the large outdoor pavilion. Rather than covering the structure, the design leaves the Mass Ply exposed, allowing the natural wood surfaces to shape the look and feel of the entire space.

The result is a building that feels both modern and inviting. The wood structure adds warmth and texture while also delivering the strength and durability needed for a busy public venue.
The project was led by Koble Creative Architecture and developed by RMCC Development, with the goal of creating a year-round destination for food, events, and community gatherings. Located at Southeast Main and Scott Streets, 1847 Food Park includes a large covered pavilion, a three-story taproom, and space for up to 17 food carts.

Visitors will also find indoor and outdoor seating areas, fire pits, and open gathering spaces designed to host events and bring people together throughout the year.
Projects like this are a reminder that Mass Ply projects aren’t limited to the Pacific Northwest region, or even the west coast. As more architects, engineers, and developers become familiar with the product, we’re seeing Mass Ply used in projects across the country. Panels manufactured in Oregon are now helping bring new buildings to life in communities far beyond the region where they are produced.

1847 Food Park is one more example of how Mass Ply can support creative design while delivering the performance modern construction demands.
